Due date tips and reminders

Due dates…

Some of us are blessed to be able to roll with whenever our babies decide to be born, and some of us need a little extra help as we approach, or even pass, our due date. Here are a few practical things you can do to help put less emphasis on your due date:

  • Remember that due dates are estimations: and these estimations can be off by potentially as much as two weeks in either direction. The dating system is based on a 28 cycle that most women don’t have. It can be helpful to just remind yourself a due date is an estimation, not an eviction notice.

  • Think in generalities: think of your due date as a general time frame instead of a specific date. So for example, think of your due date as late March instead of March 20th. Remember, babies don’t have calendars hanging in the womb. :)

  • Plan something fun on your due date: This way if it comes and goes, you still have something fun and lighthearted to look forward to, rather than focusing on the fact that you’re still pregnant.

  • Use whatever due date comes later: It’s fairly common for women to be given different due dates throughout their pregnancy, especially if they have multiple ultrasounds. Consider going by the date that is latest to help keep you encouraged.

I pray these help you, mama!
